The drama genre has been one of the most viewed and prominent films that have been made and viewed in the modern day. There are several different directors such as Joss Whedon Writer, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg who have all contributed to filming in the drama genre. Since there are several young to middle age group adolescents that enjoy watching Drama films, the drama genre tends to target them to benefit their marketing and to make money off them. Drama film coverages range from 13-15-year-old adolescents or even 17-50-year-old adults. A strong example of a modern drama film that was which grossed over $434.8 million was A Star Is Born, created by Bradley Copper, which has been one of the most popular drama films that appealed to this target audience.
Dramatic presentations or stories depict main characters in conflict with either themselves, others, or natural forces in realistic locations or situations. A gripping film such as Drama one displays the best, worst, and everything in between of human nature. This can involve the character being angry about something they have done in the past, something that is happening right now in the world, or something that they feel they can do to change what is happening to them. The path of events that each character goes through is frequently based on the behavior of the antagonist in stories with two major leads. One of the most popular drama films that several individuals my age enjoy would be Twilight. Twilight's two main characters, Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart), heavily depict the genre and convey their love for each other and what they are willing to do to have each other.
Realistic scenarios are created in these films to allow viewers to relate and put themselves in the shoes of the actors. All the characters tend to act based on how they perceive or feel about others, mainly in a romantic way. This is demonstrated when Harden Scott in the film, After by Jenny Gage, walks into Tessa’s room because he is in love with her and wants to be filled by her presence.
In these films, score and soundtrack are utilized to develop the purpose of how the characters act and what may transpire next based on their actions and demeanor. For example, during romantic scenes, specific sounds are created to create a sense of intimacy and love. Drama films tend to allow the viewer to sit back and slowly become more and more intrigued by what will occur next. Although at times specific films may be more intense than others such as the Titanic, different parts of it allow the viewer to become more intrigued whether it is a tragic scene or a love scene. In this image from After, the scene is dull and dark which may foreshadow the story and what will occur in this tragic love story.
Films ultimately have one purpose and it is to market off their audiences and target specific groups of people to accomplish their goals. Some of the most famous films of all time that did not gain much attention created novels such as Forest Gump. The plot aspects involving Forrest working for NASA, turning into a wrestler, and residing with an orangutan named Sue were dropped from the picture, which earned far better reviews than the book. These adverts and trailers attempt to give a brief overview of the characters and the conflicts. When it comes to the posters for these films, they tend to consist of close images of the main characters as seen in the film, Room.
Gone Girl is a film that consists of two main characters by the names of Nick Dunne (Lance Nicolas ) and Amy Dunne. The story of a failed marriage and a sociopath who will do anything to exact revenge. Flynn uses plot twists that go against the reader's assumptions to expand the subgenre while echoing it. This piece is created entirely through a realistic lease and wanted to show the extent people are willing to go to get revenge on others, especially in marriages. Furthermore, it was created to illustrate how ill people are and how cruel relationships can be depicting romance as dangerous. In the production aspects, this is a darker film and the colors that surround the characters are dark blacks, neutral colors, browns, and blues that create this sense of isolation and danger. It shows the two main characters, Amy and Nick. Amy went missing and Nick was using a microphone to publicly speak about Amy and her sudden disappearance.
